[Seoul] Jeonju Sikdang

✔ Restaurant:

Jeonju Sikdang (전주식당)

Jeonju Sikdang sells fish set menu and is located in Jongno-gu. Jongno-gu is an old town, so the restaurant is also old. The interior is also old. It might not look clean compared to other newly built restaurants, but these kind of restaurants are really good. Jeonju Sikdang is famous for its fish set menu. It is a homestyle meal that many Korean families eat. In particular, many people visit here because they can eat grilled fish, which smells too strong to grill at home and which is bothersome to cook at home. If you want to eat fish other than meat, this is a place to go. If you look at the menu, there are various kinds of fish.

Get out from Exit 15 from Jongno 3-ga Station, where Line 1 and Line 3 meet and enter this alley.

✔ Food:

Mackerel Set Menu

✔ Menu:

There are mackerel, seerfishes, Pacific saury, croaker and hairtail. Mackerel and seerfish are popular. I have chosen mackerel. If you order fish menu, you will get fish, soybean paste soup, side dishes and rice. If there are two of you, they are rich soybeans paste soup or a soft tofu soup on the menu. One person can order a set meal and the other can order a separate soup and share the fish together.

✔ How to eat:

Rice is cauldron rice. Put rice in a bowl and pour hot water inside the hot pot so that you can eat nureungji later.

✔ Overall:

English Menu: No

Waiting level: ●○○

(For your information, on the wall it says that the restaurant is busy from noon to 2 p.m. due to many office lunch breaks. You can still go at that time, but if you don't like to wait, try going a little early.)

Solo Dining: Solo travelers can eat here alone, but when there are many people, you have to share a table. When there are no people, you can eat alone like me.

Our Rating: Great

If you want to try Korean home style set menu, try visiting here.

(Good - "visit if you have time", Great - "you should visit", Must - "YOU MUST VISIT")
