[Korea] Kkanbu Chicken

✔ Restaurant:

Kkanbu Chicken (깐부치킨) - Chicken Franchise

📍 All over Korea

Kkanbu Chicken sets itself apart from other chicken restaurants with its retro style of chicken and is oven grilled chicken. It has many stores in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Unfortunately, there are only a few in other regions yet. If you come to Seoul, visit nearby Kkanbu Chicken by searching it on Naver Map.

✔ Menu:

If you look at the menu, you can see a variety of chicken menus.

  • Kkanbu whole chicken, which is an old fashioned chicken flavor

  • Oven grilled chicken that drains out oil from the chicken

  • Crispy chicken, which is extra crispy

✔ Food:

The menu we chose is regular fried chicken. But we got the half and half option and ordered half fried and half sweet sauce chicken.

Unlike other chicken places here, they sell this spicy steamed whelk with noodles which targets Koreans who needs at least one spicy food on the table. People usually get this in Kkanbu Chicken so it’s their signature side menu. I also wanted to try this because it's my first time having the combination of chicken and spicy noodles.

One order of chicken is too much to eat alone, but it might not be enough for two, so I think it’ll be good to order a small side dish.

✔ How to eat:

When the spicy noodles come out, you can mix the noodle with steamed whelk with chopsticks or use gloves. The combination of oily sweet chicken and sour and spicy chewy noodles was great.

✔ Overall:

English Menu: Yes (some no)

Waiting level: ●○○

Solo Dining: Yes. You can eat alone here, but you might not able to finish it. So maybe doing take out would be good.

Our Rating: Good

(Good - "visit if you have time", Great - "you should visit", Must - "YOU MUST VISIT")
