4 Places for spring flowers

Are you planning a trip to Seoul in spring?

Are you looking for a place to see flowers?

I will introduce four places I visited last spring which I liked. These 4 places are ones that I have not introduced in the last spring video. So they are new places I visited after that video. If you want to see more cherry blossom locations, check out the spring video.

1 Azalea Garden

The first place I will introduce is Azalea Garden. This is a place that a lot of people have been asking about. This is not in Seoul, but it is located near Seoul which worth visiting if you have time. It is located about an hour away from Seoul by public transportation. This garden is covered with an enormous amount of azaleas. This is a great place to see beautiful azaleas and cherry blossoms together.

Location:

Those departing from Seoul will probably use Line 1 or Line 7 to get there. This garden is closest to Bucheon Sports Complex Station on Line 7, so I recommend taking Line 7. If you take Line 1, transfer to Line 7 at Onsu Station and get off at Bucheon Sports Complex Station. There is also a bus stop nearby. So use Naver Map from your departing location to see which is the most convenient way to get to the garden.

Place:

When you arrive at Bucheon Sports Complex Station, get out from Exit 2 and walk straight along the road. Then, you will reach the azalea garden. There are several paths to walk up, so it's a good idea to go up and down here and there to see the flowers.

Nearby:

There is nothing special to see around this azalea garden. There is a bow museum, so check it out while you’re there. Since there is nothing to eat nearby, I recommend that you bring water or something to eat like snack.

Recommended time:

Azalea Garden holds an azalea festival when the azaleas are in full bloom. That’s when the place is most beautiful.

Tip:

I went here around 11 o'clock on a weekday and there were a lot of people. There were even more when I left. If you want to look around comfortably and quietly, I recommend going early in the morning. It took me about two hours looking around this place while taking pictures. There's nothing else to do around here, and it's a two-hour round trip from Seoul, so it’s not so easy to visit there just to see the garden. If you have some extra time, I think you can go visit there for a half day.

2 Hongjecheon Waterfall

This is a recently built ariticial waterfall called Hongjecheon Waterfall. Although it is artificial, the beautiful waterfall is a place where you can refresh in the middle of the city. You can see flowers in full bloom in the hill hidden behind the waterfall. During cherry blossom season, it is known as Ansan Cherry Blossom Road.

Location:

This place is located on the western side of Seoul. It’s in the area where tourists don’t often go because there is nothing else to see nearby. It's close to Hongdae, so give it a try when you visit Hongdae. There is no subway station nearby, so you have to take a bus. You can use Naver Maps to find the route, and you will probably get off around here. Then follow the road to the waterfall.

Location:

Look at the waterfall and go right, you will find a stone bridge. If you cross the stone bridge, you can go to the garden. It is a low hill, so you can see flowers without having to go up very far. All you have to do is go up here while looking at the flowers. During the cherry blossom season, road is a cherry blossom road.

Nearby:

There is nothing to do around here for sightseeing purposes, so I recommend going to Hongdae area after visiting the waterfall.

Recommended time:

You can go to this place any time in the year, but the best time to see flowers is from the end of March to before June.

Tip:

I have covered detailed explanations and tips about this place in this video. People who went to this place after watching my video said they really liked it. So I recommend watching the video for more info.

3 Mangwon Heeujung-ro

This place is an unsearchable location on maps. It's a street located in Mangwon-dong, Mapo-gu. Here, you can enjoy cherry blossoms along the road. Mangwon is a place with plenty of things to do around, so you can do other things after seeing cherry blossoms.

Location:

When you get off at Hapjeong Station and walk this way, the cherry blossom road starts from here. Cherry blossoms bloom from here to here. It's a sufficient distance to walk from Hapjeong Station, but there are also buses passing through here. Check the bus routes if you prefer not to walk.

Place:

Unlike other neighborhoods in Seoul, Mangwon doesn't have tall buildings, so it has a cozy vibe. During the day, low rise buildings and cherry blossoms look good together, and at night, you can see the cherry blossoms sparkling in the lamplight.

Nearby:

Mangwon has small shops, restaurants, and cafes in alleys. There's Mangwon Market, where you can experience a traditional Korean market. Also there is Mangwon Han River Park just a little away from this street. However, there aren't many transportation options besides village buses due to the narrow alleys. So it's a neighborhood where you have to walk a lot. If you want to see a tranquil yet trendy place, visit here.

Recommended Time:

Mangwon is just a good neighborhood to visit anytime. To see the cherry blossoms here, you should visit during the cherry blossom season.

Tip: I have a video about Mangwon. If you're interested in touring Mangwon, watch this video.

4 Changgyeonggung Palace

This is Changgyeonggung Palace, one of the five grand palaces in Seoul. Changgyeonggung is a serene palace harmonized with nature among the palace complexes. In spring, you can enjoy its natural beauty even more. Although there aren't many cherry blossoms, you can see various spring flowers such as cherry blossoms, kerrias, and royal azaleas around the palace's ponds.

Location:

Changgyeonggung is located a bit of a walk from the nearest subway station, so I recommend taking a bus. Search Changgyeonggung on Naver Maps to find out a bus route that is convenient for you.

Place:

Changgyeonggung is an extremely spacious palace. Here's the palace, and here's a pond and a garden. If you come here, you can see spring flowers and a small botanical garden. Make sure to explore it too, as there are various types of plants.

Nearby:

Changgyeonggung is connected to Changdeokgung Palace, so it's a good idea to visit them together. Since Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung are connected at this point, there's a separate entrance gate. Changgyeonggung is also near Jongmyo Shrine, which is another popular tourist attraction. Make sure to visit here as well.

Recommended Time:

Since Changgyeonggung requires a lot of walking, it's good to visit anytime except for hot summer days. If you want to see spring flowers, I recommend visiting between late March and May.

Tip:

While other palaces operate night admissions during limited periods, Changgyeonggung is one of the places where you can visit until 9 p.m. almost every day. It's a great spot to visit in the evening. For those with limited time in Seoul might want to visit here at night because there aren’t that many night touristic options.

Today, I introduced four great places to visit for spring flowers. These are places that weren't covered in the spring video, so you can refer to these places as well as ones that I have introduced in the spring video.

This spring, I am planning to visit places which I haven't visited yet. I'll try to explore more wonderful places and share them to you. If you have any places you'd like to see or are curious about, please let me know.
